The attack cargo vessel, U.S.N.S. CORE docked at Subic Bay, carrying the first six A-1E Skyraider aircraft destined for the Republic of Vietnam. Each aircraft received a one hour test hop, then the 6 aircraft, led by Lt. Col. JOHN M. PORTER, lifted off the runway on their 6 hour non-stop flight to Biên Hoa AB, Vietnam.
