Xin trích đăng hầu độc giả một đoạn viết về thể điệu Bolero của nhà báo Hoài Nam, trong đó có nhắc tới hai ca khúc Piensa in Mi và Historia de un Amor”:

...Ở châu Mỹ La-tinh, nếu Tango (Á-căn-đình) được xem là điệu vũ sôi nổi, gợi tình nhất (cho nên lúc đầu chỉ dành cho các cô gái điếm và anh chị giang hồ), thì Bolero là một điệu vũ êm đềm tình tứ, được xưng tụng là “Vũ điệu của Tình yêu” (Dance of Love), do những nét trữ tình của giai điệu, và cách thể hiện tình tứ qua vũ điệu.

Nhưng Bolero không chỉ “tình” qua giai điệu, vũ điệu mà còn “tình” ở lời hát. Trong số những thể điệu phát xuất từ Cuba, Bolero là thể điệu đầu tiên luôn luôn có lời hát đi đôi với phần nhạc, và cũng là thể điệu đầu tiên được “xuất khẩu” để rồi trở thành “một thể loại ca khúc phổ biến nhất ở châu Mỹ La-tinh” – như tác giả Ed Morales đã viết trong cuốn The Latin Beat (2003).

Vùng đất Mỹ La-tinh đầu tiên mà Bolero chinh phục, và cũng là quê hương của những bản Bolero nổi tiếng thế giới chính là Mễ-tây-cơ; tiếp theo là những vùng phụ cận như Panama, Puerto Rico…

Trước năm 1975, hai ca khúc ngoại quốc nổi tiếng nhất viết theo điệu Bolero được biết tới tại Việt Nam là Besame Mucho của Consuelo Velázquez (Mễ-tây-cơ) và Historia de un Amor (tiếng Pháp: Histoire d’un Amour) của Carlos Almaran, một nhà soạn nhạc người Panama.

Sau khi hải ngoại, tới thập niên 1990, những ai có dịp xem cuốn phim tình cảm bi kịch High Heels (1991) của Tây-ban-nha, sẽ được thưởng thức thêm một bản Bolero bất hủ khác của của châu Mỹ La-tinh, đó là Piensa in Mi (Think of Me) của tác giả Mễ-tây-cơ Agustin Lara (1897-1970), do nữ danh ca Tây-ban-nha Luz Casal trình bày.

Thực ra, ca khúc này đã được Agustin Lara viết vào thập niên 1950, nhưng phải đợi tới năm 1991, sau khi được Luz Casal hát trong cuốn phim nói trên, mới trở nên nổi tiếng quốc tế. (Video:YouTube – Luz Casal Piensa in Mi)

Thưởng thức ca khúc này, chúng ta sẽ thấy phần hòa âm, đặc biệt là “intro” có nhiều nét quen thuộc nơi những bản Bolero được ưa chuộng của nền tân nhạc Việt Nam trước năm 1975.
