  • Cảnh sát Minneapolis khuyên cư dân của họ

Date: Mon, Aug 3, 2020 at 6:37 PM

** Đồng hương Việt Nam nên thật cẩn thật, rời khỏi Minneapolis, tìm nơi an toàn tạm trú...

In an email, Minneapolis Police advised their residents to prepare for giving up their own personal belongings in case of robbery attacks, as law enforcement authorities struggled to respond to the uptick in crime and violence.
Two months after the death of George Floyd, an African-American man who died under police custody, the 3rd precinct with which officer Derek Chauvin had worked came under increasing strain and pressure as violence, crime and anarchy broke out in Minneapolis. In an email advisory, the city’s police department acknowledged the increasing problem with robberies and carjacking.
The statement continued that some of the residents were physically assaulted as they were either dragged, maced, and even held at gunpoint as robbers tried to take their valuable belongings such as cell phones, purses, and vehicles. Within the span of one month, more than 100 robberies and 20 carjacking incidents had been reported in the 3rd precinct. Moreover, Law enforcement authorities identified north of 42nd St. E. as a hotspot for robberies and carjacking. Other areas are also experiencing an increase in criminal activities, including Downtown and Southwest Minneapolis.
As a warning, the email cites ways in which residents can stay safe from robbers, such as avoid walking alone, staying hyper-vigilant, carrying fewer items and less cash, even going as far as to warn residents to “Be prepared to give up your cell phone and purse/wallet.” The advisory also noted that “Do not argue or fight with the criminal. Do as they say. Your safety is most important.” To avoid carjacking, the email warned residents not to leave valuables in the car or leaving their vehicles unattended. This is especially true since most victims of carjacking are those that are in the food delivery industry.

The sudden surge in crime rates came after the city saw 40 cops leave the force in the past two months. The weakened police force is largely attributed to the low morale in the city’s police department after officers were either attacked, vilified, and even defunded. Initially, reports claim that the city’s budget funded 888 police officers. However, the media outlets forecasted that one-third of the police force would either retire or resign before the end of the year.
To add more tension, officers also failed to gain support from their elected officials as the Minneapolis City Council succumbed to the radical left-wing agenda to defund the police for a “transformative new model for cultivating safety.” One of the Council members, Lisa Bender, received a massive backlash when she told CNN that people reporting to the police after a robbery incident comes from a “place of privilege.”

In late May, the 3rd precinct also suffered massive damages as Democratic Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey had to evacuate police officers while protesters went on to destroy and burn down the building.
President Donald Trump expressed his frustration with the anarchy. In a social media post, the President wrote that the Democrat-led city lacked “leadership” and called the protesters as “thugs” who “glorify violence.”
